Continuity Exercise Notes

Match on match action:
When you film one shot of something and then cut to another shot which matches the first shot the audience sees. This is a type of continuity editing which distracts the audience from the editing. 'Visual bridging' is also used to disguise certain edits.

Shot reverse shot:
When there is dialogue between two or more people and the camera goes from one person to another when it is their time to speak or to see their facial expressions.

180 degree rule:
When shooting, camera's are kept only one side of the specific acting/action/scene etc. This makes the viewer clear on where people are looking or where things are going.
