Today i have been working on the back cover of my digipak. I also had to plan what songs i wanted to add to Please Dont Say You Love Me which is obviously used in our music video. I thought of titles that i could use for song names that i felt would reflect my artists genre in music and that would also keep in close contact with our music video song. Here are the song titles i came up with:
- Please don't say you love me- song used in music video
- Make me fall
- Candles
- Our Young Hearts
- All the little details
- Let me in
- On the ground
The reason i named them in this way is because i felt that they all portrayed a sense of love and relationships. I also felt that they expressed an extreme amount of emotion from the artist which she portrays hugely in our music video with the song Please Dont Say You Love Me. Lastly i felt that they showed an acoustic and soft theme to my artist and that she is someone who has a loving connection towards music and expressing her feelings through her music.

Digipak Progress
Here is some progress of the front cover of my digipak. When taking pictures for my digipak i wanted to express the urbansied ripped wallpaper theme i researched when creating ideas for it. Luckily i found this wall localy, it wasn't exactly how i wanted it to look but i was still happy that it expressed what i wanted it to express which was a slight urban and unique feel. I started to photoshop in the text of my artists name. The text which i have chosen to use is called The Maple Origins downloaded from the text website i was introducec to called Dafont.com. I feel that this font ties in well with the wall in the background and also reignforces the edgy urban look. I have also started to play around with the colours in this picture. By using effects such as contrast, brightening, saturation and also especially colour balance which i have used so that i can bring out the blue's and greens in the picture as i fell they stand out the most and that it is something i can use as a theme for my advert aswell.

Digipak Ideas
Today i started mind mapping ideas for my digipak that i feel would represent my artist and her brand identity. Some of the ideas i had for the digipak was firstly a very acoustic look and theme therefore i thought written lyrics or songwriting in a lyric book would represent this theme very well. Here are some inspirational images that i am aiming for in my digipak:
I then also thought of creating a slightly urbanised style to my artist and the theme of the digipak as i felt my artist portrayed a new British urbansied artist. Therfore this is why i looked for inspirational images of torn wallpaper as i felt it reflected the rawness of my artist and her songs aswell as her style and fashion.
Here are some of the inspirational images that i would like to aspire to in my digipak:

Introduction to Photoshop and learning how to use it
Today I was introduced to Photoshop and how to use it. I have had previous experience using photoshop but i had never learnt how to use it in the right way and how to work individual specific things. Firstly we went over all the different tools that can be used when creating a product on photoshop. For example the magic wand tool to remove backgrounds if you would just like only one part of a picture. We then also learnt about the different layers needed when creating your photoshop product. We did so by using the internet to find pictures of different things and creating different layers of backgrounds, pictures and also text. We used this as a practice so that when i come to make my digipak and advert i am then able to apply all of these tasks to these products.

Artist Brand Identity mind map
Here is a mind map of different, words and adjectives describing our artist's brand identity. As a class we watched everyone's music video's and discussed together how we felt the artists identity would come across in the branding of them. As seen on the photo some of the things people felt would work best was Jess's attire being quite vintage and retro and also the use of quite natural and pastel colours.

Digipak Research- Similar Artists
1.) Research the album/single covers of an artist or artists who fall into a smilier genre of music and/or have similar brand identity.
For this part of my Digipak research i have searched for artists who i feel exude the most similar music and also brand identity as my artist. My artist takes a quite indie and slight folky form. She is also an artist who writes songs and plays intruments such as the guitar and piano, which are also the same instruments which the similar artists use. Another similarity between my artist and others are they are all UK singers and portray a very British theme through there singing in particular. Here are some of the artists i researched:

Nina Nesbitt:
Lucy Rose:
Emily And The Woods:
Orla Gartland:

Digipak Research- Form and Conevntions
1.) What is a digipak and how is it similar/different to an album cover?
Digipaks typically consist of a gatefold paperboard or card stock outer binding, with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside. Digipak-style packaging is often used for CD singles or special editions of CD albums and the tall DVD Digipak (DVDigipak) is used as a premium package for DVDs and DVD sets. The CD DigiPak is a modern, stylish alternative to the standard CD Jewel Case. CD DigiPacks are especially popular in the music industry for CD albums as well as multiple CD disc sets. CD Digipaks give a product an expensive professional look and feel – especially when well designed CD artwork is combined with clever use of specialist print finishing options such as Matt Lamination, Spot UV or Embossing. The most common CD Digipaks is the 4 panel Digipak which opens like a book.
2.) what does a digipak net look like and how many faces are usual?
- This is a 4 panel, 1 Tray CD Digipak

- This is a 4 panel, 1 Tray CD Digipak Template
The most common CD Digipaks is the 4 panel Digipak which opens like a book. However 6 panel CD Dipipaks are also very popular, providing a larger canvas for CD artwork and text information about the CD. 8 panel and even 10 panel CD Digipaks are also available.
3.) What do we usually find on the various faces, i.e. -
Front cover: The front cover will usually consist of an image of the artist and a specific theme that may be tied in with their music/ music video or with the theme of their album or single. It usually may also have a date of release if it is going to be released online aswell as being sold in shops.
Back cover: The back cover usually consists of also another image that may be connected to the music/ music video or theme of their album or single. And it will also display the list of songs or song that are on the album or single. There is also a barcode on the back cover so that it can be sold in shops.
Inside cover: The inside cover normally will also have an image connected with the theme of their song or album as a whole.
CD tray: The CD tray normally will again have an image that carries on with the theme and images of the album or single. Sometimes this part is either the same image as the front cover or even the CD itself.
4.) Does there need to be a connection between faces on the digipack?
Yes i personally agree with this as the artist needs to portray a congruous theme and image so having different images on the faces would take this away. By doing so they give people a chance to engage into the artist and to be enthused to buy the album.
